Mrs. Jenny began her dance training at the age of 2 at Sharon McDonald Dance Arts Studio in Beaumont, Texas, which later became Ashlandʼs Affirming Arts Studio. In her years there, she studied ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, lyrical and modern, competing and training at Tremaine and La Dance Magic. She earned her studioʼs highest award in her senior year for attitude and achievement in dance.
Although Jenny enjoys all of the dance forms, tap became her favorite and at the recommendation of her teachers, she began attending the Sole to Soul Tap Festival in Austin, Texas, under the direction of Tapestry Dance Company and Acia Gray at the age of 14. In her studies at Sole to Soul, Jenny had the opportunity to study under some of the biggest names in tap including Fayard Nicholas of the Nicholas Brothers, Arthur Duncan of the Lawrence Welk show, Dr. Jeni Le Gon, Lane Alexander of the Chicago Human Rhythm Project, Josh Hilberman, Sam Weber, Dianne "Lady Di" Walker, Ayodele Casel and Derrick Grant.
After graduating high school, Jenny attended college at The University of Texas at Austin earning degrees in Psychology and Journalism. She continued her dance training with Tapestry Dance Company studying under Jason Janas and attending Soul to Sole each year. In her time at the university, she also was a member of UTʼs tap company, Tap 360, participating in various community performances.
While in Austin, Jenny joined the staff at Center Stage in Leander, Texas, where she taught tap, jazz, ballet and creative movement for 3 years, and also continued her dance training.
Jenny is currently a member of the Legacy Tap Project, a performing tap group dedicated to preserving the historical tap dances of the tap masters. She continues to attend workshops and intensives in tap. She is also a member of the International Tap Association (ITA). Jenny recently earned her master's degrees from the University of North Texas in counseling and play therapy.
