Mrs. Anne Bennett Oswalt, Musical Theatre Director
After a short hiatus, Anne Bennett Oswalt is back in front of the mirror to teach her innovative, musical-theater style. Since 1991, Anne has taught dance to hundreds if not thousands of children in the D/FW metrolplex. She owned and operated her own studio for nine years (1996 to 2005), and is currently in her 8th season as resident choreographer for Martin High School's highly-touted Choir and Theater Departments. Slated for a May 2008 run, Anne is about to begin rehearsals for MHS's production of Thoroughly Modern Millie. Choreography credits include How To Succeed In Business, Sound of Music, Footloose, The Pajama Game, Guys And Dolls, and The Boy Friend. Editorial credits include GoldRush Magazine (as a contributing writer)and Dance Teacher and Dance Spirit magazines -- all of which garner a national audience.
Many of Anne's students have gone on to establish successful dance careers including performances with national and international touring companies. Others have earned scholarships and/or internships into prestigious dance programs or have been invited to perform for national dance venues. One protege even landed a television and movie contract with Disney; while another student was asked to pen an article for a national dance magazine about choreographing his own solo.
When she's not in rehearsals or in the studio, Anne works full-time for The Princeton Review -- an industry leader in integrated classroom-based, print and online products and services that address the needs of students, parents, educators and educational institutions. She resides in Fort Worth near TCU with her husband John and their 8-year-old chocolate lab Hershey.
